ZALT – Zanzibar Salt with a Story

3 Girlfriends discovered the Pemba Salt Farmers and brainstormed how to improve the farmers life, while refining the precious sea salt. They founded Swahili Coast Salt Company, with its two brands, ZALT (refined with Spices and for export) and MAWIMBI (sold on the local market of Tanzania). We will show you how the hand harvested salt from Pemba is hand mixed and refined in Zanzibar and prepared for export. Have you seen it on your table in your restaurant already?

CHAKO

Chako initial worked according the “Tourist2Tourist” concept, meaning we make souvenirs for tourists from the waste that tourists directly produce. This offers tourists a way to reduce their negative impact on the island with a positive approach; by buying original, innovative souvenirs for friends and family. Nowadays, their products do not only reach tourists, but also other people around the globe.

CHAKO encourages learning by doing and encourages local artisan craft producers, mostly women, to be creative and artistic without any limitations.

CHAKO is Upcycled & Uplifted!
